Based on the Assignment ‘EVIL’

I have chosen the topic of 'Evil' from the fist part of our Humanities class to write about. It is not the exact topic of 'Evil' but what I learned as a result of the assignment. I was not aware of the similarities between the Bible and the Koran. I have been fascinated with this ever since. From the reading we had to do for class I learned that the story of the fall of Lucifer is the same in the Koran as the bible, just different names. I also learned that the story of 'Pandora's Box' has a same undertone as the story of Eve and the apple from the book of Genesis in the Holy Bible. There are also stories stolen from Greek Mythology and placed in the Bible.  As well as Pagan traditions claimed as Christian.

Did you know that in comparison of the Bible to the Koran, they are almost the same book, with almost the same people, and stories? There are over 50 of the same people in the Koran as the bible.(3)  There are also12+ stories in the bible matching stories in the Koran.  Muslims at times read the bible to get more details than the Koran gives. I think if more American knew this it would help improve the American out look of the Muslims. Americans tend to look at them as if they are all terrorist.  Americans need to understand that it is not the churches that teach the terrorist to hate Americans and do the suicide missions.  It is the terrorist sects themselves.  They pray on young minds just like the ‘Cults” in America, do the American youth.  It may also help more Muslims to be aware of the religion similarities between the American Christians and themselves. Maybe the culture could more openly accept the solders help in Iraq?

There are a few Pagan practices that the Christians use for themselves.  For instance, the Christmas Tree.  (2) Also, the name Easter is the name of the pagan goddess Ishtar.  The food that kept her immortal was eggs and the animal that is associated with her is the rabbit.  Greek Mythology has a ‘Flood’ as well.  (1) The Celts, 2,000 years ago, celebrated their new year on November 1, which marked the end of summer, the harvest and the beginning of  winter, a time of year that’s associated with death. They believed that the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and dead were blurred.  This tradition is widely practiced by Christians as Halloween.  These are just a few.

I have never called myself deeply religious, maybe deeply curious about what the 'right' religion is.  As a result of our Humanities class assignment of 'Evil' I have learned more about religions and the similarities. This knowledge will help in my quest to find the right belief system for myself. I have a theory that many religions worship the same ONE GOD and do not realize it. What if every one believes in the same God but calls him by a different name? Even religions that believe in several Gods usually have one God that rules them all. We could look at Christian Catholics the same way. Several saints with specific duties and reasons people pray to them; but ultimately God rules them all.

I know I believe in a GOD and a type of heaven. I'm not sure which religion or Christian denomination is correct. What if I choose one and end up in a place like Hell because I have chosen the wrong one? I do not want to choose the wrong belief system. I continue to pray to the Christian God because I believe him to be true. I do not however believe that Jesus and God are the same person, nor do I think the ’Holy Trinity’ is the same being ..... The father, the son and holy ghost. If that's true then why while on the cross did Jesus look to the heavens and say " Father, why has thou forsaken me?" This upon other things like the story of Kane and Abel leaves holes in the Bible in my opinion. With my extra knowledge due to this Humanities class, I intent to read the Koran and delve deeper into Greek Mythology, in order to find my own way.
